3: My Custodian Interview

I interviewed Bonny Fernandez. She is a custodian that works at Piper High School. Before she worked at Piper, she worked at an elementary school in Miami. She has been working here for eight years. She cleans the school everyday and does maintenance. She doesn’t care what she is called but she likes custodian or janitor. She says the nastiest thing she ever cleaned was the bathroom and works eight hours a day to keep the school clean. She says it not an easy job and it’s a lot of work. She doesn’t complain when something she just cleaned got dirty 10 minutes later because “its part of the job.”
Asked the same questions, an anonymous custodian has been working at piper high school for ten years. This is her first and only school she worked for. Her job is to clean up anything necessary. She doesn’t care if she’s called custodian or janitor because its two words that are the same thing to her. It also takes her eight hours to clean the school. She thinks her job is easy but very nasty. The nastiest things she had to clean was the bathroom, throw up, and blood. She doesn’t complain about an area being cleaned several times because “it’s my job.”
